Moranbah East provides our students with a range of learning experiences in a challenging and supportive environment. East School offers an innovative and engaging curriculum to meet the needs of each student. This is achieved through an uncluttered curriculum designed to accommodate the learning rates and styles of students and embrace the need for flexible approaches to learning. We place high expectations on student conduct and the development of social responsibility. We provide students with support and direction so that they can develop their social competence and self confidence and achieve their full potential. Every staff member at the East School has a commitment to high quality educational and social outcomes for our students. Every staff member takes the responsibility to ensure our students are afforded every opportunity to succeed.

To maintain a well organised and efficiently run school we have a number of policies which clearly articulate our shared expectations.  We appreciate the high levels of parent support which assist us to reinforce these policies and maintain the high standard for which Moranbah East is known.

Attendance policy

We expect every child to be at school every day unless there is a valid reason for absence.  Read our attendance policy to find out what constitutes a valid reason, how to report absences and how the school responds to absences. We appreciate 'family time' here in Moranbah but ask that time out of school be limited to school holidays where possible.

At Moranbah East we are very proud of our royal blue and maroon uniform. Our dress code is strictly enforced and students wear the uniform proudly and respectfully.

For more information please read the dress code policy (PDF, 1MB).

Student code of conduct

Our Student Code of Conduct has been endorsed by the P&C and has a clear focus on the School Improvement Agenda. One of the key elements is the Behaviour Management Process flowchart that is displayed in all classrooms.

Religious instruction

Religious instruction classes are available at Moranbah East State School for students in Years 1-6.  Please see our Chaplain or Admin office to discuss.

Moranbah East has a clear, decisive policy to clarify our expectations about the use of mobile phones and other electronic devices. Please ensure your child understands this policy by reading over it together.

Sun safety policy

At Moranbah East we are committed to sun safe practices for our students and staff.   Our sun safe policy outlines our strategy for protecting our students against the dangers of the sun.

Exclusion for health reasons procedure

Health alerts to advise parents of potential viruses, illnesses or concerns are posted on the home page of our website.   If you have concerns that your child may have an infectious disease which requires a period of exclusion, please refer to the illness and exclusion table (PDF, 169KB). This table provides information about the length of time students need to be excluded from school in the event of them contracting an infectious condition, for both their own recovery and the safety of other students who may be immuno-suppressed.
